01 What if a smart lock fails?

Every lock has a physical backup key hidden inside the property, we hand it to you at install. If the system fails for any reason, the lock still works with that key.

On top of that, we arrive on site within two hours to fix it. If we can't fix it on site, we replace the lock at no charge. Service continuity is our responsibility.

02 Do I need to already have an Airbnb listing?

Not required. If your property is finished but you haven't listed it, we help you create the Airbnb listing, professional photography, and dynamic pricing setup. That's a separate service, quoted at the moment.

If you already have an active listing, we connect the system to your current calendar and everything starts working the day after install.

03 Which cities do you operate in?

Full coverage: Playa del Carmen, Tulum, Cancún, Puerto Aventuras, Akumal, and Bacalar.

Pilot coverage starting June 2026: Mérida, Holbox, and Isla Mujeres. If your property is outside these areas, message us. We're expanding monthly.

04 What's the contract like? What if I want to cancel?

No minimum term: you can cancel anytime, no penalty. Installation has a one-time fee, but if you sign a 6-month contract we waive it completely.

If you want to keep the equipment when you cancel, we sell it at cost. Otherwise, we retrieve it at no charge.

05 Is it secure? Is it intrusive for guests?

The system only monitors electrical consumption, Wi-Fi connectivity, and lock events. No cameras, no audio recording.

The presence sensor for the A/C works on body heat and motion, like an automatic light sensor in an office. It knows someone's there, not who.

The lock logs when it opens and which code, not who entered. All this information is the host's property, we don't share it with third parties.

06 Does this replace a human property manager?

Not for everything. We replace the tedious part: access, services, and monitoring. For cleaning, major maintenance, and in-person guest attention you still need humans.

The difference is that with HostMyCasa you skip the middleman who used to charge 20% of your rent just to keep an eye on WhatsApp. You pay a fixed monthly fee and hire your own cleaning team directly.

07 Does it work if I have multiple properties?

Yes, and it's a better deal. From your second property we apply 15% off your chosen plan. From your fifth, 25%.

You also get a unified dashboard where you see all your properties in one place, with consolidated reports.

08 What about power outages? What happens to the lock?

Smart locks run on independent batteries, so blackouts don't affect them. Batteries last six to nine months depending on use, and the system warns you two weeks before they need replacement.

The Wi-Fi monitor and A/C sensor do depend on electricity. When power returns, the system reboots itself and resumes normal operation.
